The Gibbaeum heathii is a special succulent plant that occurs naturally in a large area in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Here this Gibbaeum grows in dry loam and stony plains.

The Gibbaeum heathii has a beautiful light green to green-gray color. It produces 2 convex leaves that grow against each other. This Gibbaeum changes leaves once a year. The old leaves split open and 2 new leaves grow in between. After a while the old leaves wither. When these plants get older they will form side shoots. These form during leaf change. This way, over time, you will get beautiful, full clusters of Gibbaeum heathii.

The Gibbaeum heathii is an easy bloomer. She does this for us in winter and early spring. Its flowers appear between the leaves and have a bright purple-pink color.
