The Parodia buiningii is a beautiful cactus species. In nature, this cactus occurs in the south of Brazil and the north of Uruguay. Here this cactus often grows sheltered between rocks and other plants in dry areas.

The Parodia buiningii has a beautiful green-blue color. Her ribs are sharply shaped at the end. Small woolly areoles grow on top of the ribs. Her yellow-brown colored sturdy spines grow from this. The Parodia buiningii is an average grower and can eventually grow into a ball cactus of 12 cm in diameter.

The Parodia buiningii is a cactus that likes to bloom. She usually does this at the beginning of summer. Brown-gray balls then appear on the top of the cactus. These later grow into beautiful large bright yellow flowers with a red stigma.
