The Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subs. schwarzii is a beautiful cactus species and a subspecies of the very variable Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus. In nature the Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subs occurs. schwarzii in Mexico. These plants come from the site near the village of Charco Blanco. Here is this cactus growing in dark black soil. This may have an effect on the dark color of her spines.

The Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subs. schwarzii has a dark green-gray color. The spines are black brown. The spines are thick and often grow randomly curved in all directions. The Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subs. schwarzii is a very slow growing cactus that often remains small. Old plants can eventually reach 8 cm in diameter.
