The Mammillaria crinita subs. Duwei is a beautiful and compact cactus species. In nature, this cactus grows northeast of the Mexican city of Guanajuato. Here it grows on hillsides in volcanic rock.

The Mammillaria crinita subs. Duwei is a small cactus that makes new shoots from the side. It has a dark green color and is covered with many fine white spines that grow sideways from its areoles. The central spine often has a yellow-brown color and is bent at the end.

The flowering period of the Mammillaria crinita subs. Duwei is in spring and summer. From the top of the cactus then appear many small light yellow flowers.

When this Mammillaria overwinters completely dry, it can withstand temperatures down to -5 degrees.
