The Agave stricta nana is a beautiful symmetrical agave species. This Agave occurs naturally in the South East of Mexico. The Agave stricta nana small variant of the larger Agave stricta.

The Agave stricta nana produces elongated upward-growing leaves. The leaves have a fresh green to sometimes yellow-green color. This also partly depends on the amount of sunlight. The Agave stricta nana has no spines along its leaves, but only a longer central spine at the end of the leaf. Due to the growth of the leaves, the Agave stricta nana sometimes resembles a spiky bulb. This has given this Agave the nickname Dwarf Hedgehog agave or hedgehog plant.

The Agave stricta nana eventually grows to between 20-25 cm high and 15-20 cm wide. Another nice thing about this Agave is that it produces many side shoots. These grow between the lower leaves of this Agave. When they are 5-8 cm large you can easily take cuttings. You can also leave them on the plant. This way you get a beautiful cluster of Agave stricta nana plants.
