The Cleistocactus Winteri is a beautiful hanging cactus with yellow spines. A nickname for the Cleistocactus Winteri is golden rat tail cactus. In nature, the Cleistocactus Winteri occurs in Bolivia. Two populations are known here. In both places the Cleistocactus Winteri grows between rocks on steep rock walls.

The Cleistocactus Winteri is a fast grower for a cactus. When the Cleistocactus Winteri has a good growing year, the stems can grow up to 25 cm per year. The Cleistocactus Winteri makes new ones from the side of an existing stem.

The flowers of the Cleistocactus Winteri are tubular and salmon pink in color. The flowers grow from the side of the cactus and can grow up to 6 cm long.
