Information

The Cotyledon orbiculata variegata is a beautiful, unique succulent. Its colors are a real eye-catcher and are rarely offered for sale.

In the wild, Cotyledon orbiculata grows in southern parts of Africa. This beautifully colored variety isn't found there. It originated from breeding plants in which parts of the plant lack chloroplasts.

The Cotyledon orbiculata variegata produces sturdy stems up to 50 cm tall. These stems bear fleshy gray leaves. Some of the leaves lack chloroplasts, resulting in a beautiful creamy-yellow color. The leaf edges develop a red to reddish-purple hue. The intensity of this color depends on the sunlight, so give it a nice sunny spot.

This Cotyledon stores a lot of water in its leaves, allowing it to survive extended periods of drought. The leaves have a thin waxy coating. This helps prevent moisture from evaporating in the sun.
