Information

The Crassula Hobbit Trumpet is a beautiful, intensely green Crassula succulent. The leaves of the Crassula Hobbit are tubular with a calyx at the end. In this trumpet variety, the leaves are often slightly thicker, and the calyx is flat at the top. This gives the leaves a trumpet-like appearance. When this Crassula receives sufficient light, the edge of the calyx turns a beautiful red.

The Crassula Hobbit Trumpet is a cultivar. This means it didn't originate in nature, but was developed through breeding in nurseries. This certainly doesn't make it any less beautiful. The Crassula Hobbit is a true succulent. This means it can store a great deal of water in its leaves, allowing it to withstand long periods of drought. It's easier to overwater the Crassula Hobbit Trumpet than underwater it. When the Crassula Hobbit needs water, its leaves begin to wrinkle.

This Crassula can grow into a substantial plant, up to 2 meters tall. It will take many years to do so. Eventually, it develops a woody trunk bearing beautifully shaped and colored leaves.

The Crassula Hobbit Trumpet can flower. This is rare and only happens with larger plants. The heads of this succulent produce clusters of small, white-yellow flowers. The Crassula Hobbit Trumpet is not only easy to care for but also easy to propagate. If a leaf breaks off, you can simply place it on the soil. It will take root in a few weeks and then grow into a new plant.
