Back from the dead, the Dinteranthus vanzylii. This is a special plant that we rarely get offered. The Dinteranthus vanzylii occurs in nature in the Cape Province of South Africa. Here it grows on dry plains with sand and gravel stones.

The Dinteranthus vanzylii looks very much like a lithops plant in shape and camouflage in the wild. The plant body consists of 2 leaves that grow opposite each other. Once a year it changes its leaves. From the middle the two existing leaves break open and the new ones emerge. The old leaves shrivel and dry up.

The colour of its leaves is grey-white. Due to the intensity of the sunlight, a red-brown pattern appears on top of the leaves. The colour of the leaf and the pattern correspond to the stones that lie in nature in the places where this Dinteranthus grows. This makes it perfectly camouflaged and often only visible when it starts to bloom.

The Dinteranthus vanzylii is an easy bloomer. When she is happy with you she blooms in the fall. The flower appears from the center of the plant, between the leaves. She has a bright yellow color.
