Euphorbia tirucalli is a beautiful Euphorbia species with a lovely fresh green colour. In the wild, Euphorbia tirucalli is found across a large area of southern Africa. It can grow into sizable trees reaching up to 5 metres tall.

Euphorbia tirucalli produces long, thin stems that look a lot like pencils. That is why it is also known as the pencil plant or pencil bush. Euphorbia tirucalli is a very hardy plant that adapts well to many conditions. This makes it almost indestructible and ideal for you if you really don’t have green fingers.

Euphorbia tirucalli has not only beautiful elongated stems, but also small, thin leaves. These grow on top of the new stems and fall off again as the stems get longer.

The sap of Euphorbia tirucalli is poisonous if ingested. Nevertheless, local people often mix it with milk as an antidote to many kinds of snake bites.
