Information

🌵 General information about this cactus species (Lᴏᴘʜᴏᴘʜᴏʀᴀ ᴡɪʟʟɪᴀᴍsɪɪ / “ᴘᴇʏᴏᴛᴇ ᴄᴀᴄᴛᴜꜱ”)
This spineless cactus is recognizable by its compact shape and thick underground root. The plant is native to the southern United States and northern Mexico. In certain cultures, this species is used in traditional rituals. Its nickname, "ᴘᴇʏᴏᴛᴇ ᴄᴀᴄᴛᴜꜱ," refers to its cultural history.

In spring and summer, small, soft pink flowers emerge from the top of the cactus, often adorned with subtle white stripes. After pollination, small pink berries containing seeds develop.

This cactus is highly resistant to prolonged drought. Thanks to its deep taproot—often larger than the cactus itself—it can store a lot of moisture and survive extended periods without water. When the soil is very dry, the plant withdraws slightly into the ground and shrinks temporarily.

This species thrives in mineral-rich soil. This means little organic matter like potting soil or humus, but plenty of pebbles, sand, and gravel. In this well-drained soil, the roots develop stronger and healthier. The plants you buy from us are, of course, already planted in this ideal substrate.

L. caespitosa is a special variety within this rare ball cactus family. This species has the unique ability to produce many new shoots, which over time creates a cluster of several small plants.

🔍 Please note: This plant is intended for ornamental use only. We do not sell this species for consumption or for uses related to ᴍᴇꜱᴄᴀʟɪɴᴇ or other psychoactive substances.
