Information

The Monadenium stapioides is a small shrub-shaped succulent plant. This occurs naturally in Kenya and northern Tanzania. Here this Monadenium stapioides grows between grass plants in rocky grasslands. The grass plants provide protection for the trunk against the bright sun.

The Monadenium stapioides has a dark green stem. The trunk is formed by pointed tubercles from which its light green leaves grow. These leaves mainly grow on the upper part of the stem and give the Monadenium stapioides its unique appearance. When the trunks become a bit large, they start to branch and this plant grows into a shrub of 60 cm high.

The Monadenium stapioides will bloom in our country at the end of summer and in autumn. A cluster of small white flowers appears from the head between the leaves.
