Sempervivum tectorum 'Oddity' is a unique and rare rosette-shaped succulent distinguished by its unique, curled leaves. This cultivar is not found in the wild, but was developed by American succulent enthusiast Sandy McPherson and introduced in 1977.

The rosettes of this Sempervivum form dense mats that spread steadily. Unlike most Sempervivums, which have broad, pointed leaves, the leaves of this species are folded lengthwise and curled backward, resembling small green tubes or rolled-up cigarette leaves. The leaf margins are lightly hairy, fresh green with a hint of red at the tips. This unique shape is reminiscent of the leaves of Crassula ovata 'Gollum' or 'Hobbit'. Each rosette can grow to as many as 50 to 60 leaves.

In summer, from June to August, beautiful pink, star-shaped flowers appear on hairy stems. As with all Sempervivums, the rosette dies after flowering but is quickly replaced by new rosettes emerging from runners. The plant is hardy to about -12°C and can therefore easily overwinter outdoors in colder climates, provided it is planted in well-drained soil.
