Information

The Trachycarpus fortunei is a beautiful palm tree. This plant is also called the Chinese windmill palm due to the shape of its leaves. In nature, you can find this palm in China and Japan.

The Trachycarpus fortunei is a winter-hardy palm species, which is one of the reasons why this plant is so popular.

The palm has large, green, fan-shaped leaves that create a tropical look. In warm, tropical countries, it can grow up to 10 meters tall. In the Netherlands, it generally remains much smaller and usually does not grow taller than about 2 meters.

That is the general information about this beautiful palm. Now I hear you thinking: "But this is something completely different from a cactus or succulent?" You are absolutely right!

We came across these lovely young plants and found them too beautiful not to add to our assortment. They are ideal for growing into a beautiful, imposing palm yourself. Additionally, they combine surprisingly well with cacti and succulents and look splendid together in a plant collection.

Caring for this palm does differ somewhat from that of a cactus or succulent. The Trachycarpus fortunei needs a bit more water. Ensure that the potting soil remains slightly moist and does not completely dry out between waterings. At the same time, it is important that the soil is not constantly soggy or soaking wet.

Furthermore, this palm likes almost the same conditions as cacti and succulents: plenty of light, sun, and warmth. Therefore, give it a nice, sunny spot so it can grow optimally.
