The Melocactus broadwayi is a beautiful Melocactus that you quickly recognize by the beautiful red glow that this plant has. In nature, the Melocactus broadwayi occurs on the islands of Granada and Tobago.

The Melocactus broadwayi grows to about 20 cm high and 20 cm wide. This cactus has a fresh green color and beautiful red-brown to sometimes even orange-red spines. When the plants are a bit older they also get some light white wool around the upper areoles.

When the Melocactus broadwayi ages, its cephalium begins to grow. This is white to red in color and grows on top of the cactus. The bright pink flowers grow from this cephalium. The Melocactus broadwayi blooms with us from March to September.

Like many other Melocactus species, Melocactus broadwayi likes warm temperatures. Ensures that the plants do not experience temperatures below 10 degrees for long periods of time during winter dormancy.
