The Peperomia prostrata "string of turtles" is a beautiful hanging plant with a very beautiful pattern on its leaves. The leaves have a fresh green color with a pattern of brown lines. This combination of colors and shape of the leaf of the Peperomia prostrata is very similar to the shell of a turtle. This is why the Peperomia prostrata has also been nicknamed string or turtles.

Peperomia prostrata occurs naturally in a large area in central and southern America. Here Peperomia prostrata grows in tropical forests, often hanging along tree branches. The Peperomia prostrata resembles a succulent plant due to its fleshy leaves, but could use a little more water due to its tropical origin.
