Information

The Titanopsis Calcarea is a small succulent from South Africa with a unique appearance. This succulent grows in the Boesman region in South Africa. Here the Titanopsis Calcarea forms small low-growing clusters of 10 cm in diameter. The Titanopsis Calcarea grows in a sandy limestone soil. The Boesman region is an arid and dry area. This means that the Titanopsis Calcarea can withstand long periods without water very well. It's okay if you forget to water it once in a while.

The leaves of the Titanopsis Calcarea are truly unique. On top of the leaves there are small warts that can be gray, yellow, brown to red in color. Because of these warts, the Titanopsis Calcarea is nicknamed the wart plant in the Netherlands.

In autumn and winter, orange/yellow flowers appear between the leaves at the head of the plant, which can grow up to 2 cm in size. In summer the Titanopsis Calcarea likes high temperatures, but in winter it is also hardy to temperatures of -10° C. This requires that the soil in which the Titanopsis Calcarea is grown is completely dried out.
