Information

The Albuca Augrabie is a special caudex species that resembles a grass species when you do not see the caudex. The Albuca Augrabie grows on the Augrabie hills in South Africa. This Albuca variety owes its second name to this. The caudex of the Albuca Augrabie is reminiscent of an onion. Dark green blades of grass grow from the top of the caudex.

The Albuca Augrabie multiplies from the caudex itself and through seeds of the pollinated flowers. When this happens in the caudex, the skin of the caudex tears open and a new one emerges.

The Albuca Augrabie is a winter grower and goes dormant in the summer. However, she does not always lose all her green blades. When the Albuca Augrabie goes into rest, her water needs are also very low and she uses the reserves present in the caudex.

The Albuca Augrabie will bloom in the spring when you have it with you. The flower stems grow between the green blades of grass with beautiful white flowers with a yellow heart.
