Information

The Faucaria Tigrina is a special succulent plant that occurs naturally in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Here the Faucaria Tigrina grows in mountainous areas and sandy plains and forms large clusters of succulents. When they are in bloom in nature, they look like one carpet full of white and yellow flowers. In the wild, the species is under pressure from agriculture, grazing cows and urbanization around the city of Grahamstown. As a result, the number of plants in the wild is rapidly decreasing.

The leaves of the Faucaria Tigrina are green-gray in color and all have small soft white teeth on the edge. This has given the Faucaria Tigrina the nickname Shark's Jaws and Tiger's Mouth. When the Faucaria Tigrina gets a lot of sun in the summer, the teeth and sides of the leaves can turn red-purple.

The flowers of the Faucaria Tigrina are quite large and striking for such a small succulent. They have a diameter of 5 cm and are white-yellow to bright yellow in color. The Faucaria Tigrina blooms with us in spring and autumn. Occasionally a flower also appears in the summer.
