The Frailea Castanea is a beautiful symmetrical dwarf cactus. The Frailea Castanea rarely reaches a diameter larger than 4 cm. Ideal if you have little space or you like small cacti. The Frailea Castanea occurs in nature in Brazil and in the north of Uruguay. Here the Frailea Castanea grows in sandy and stony areas between grass plants. These grass plants give the Frailea Castanea the necessary protection against the intense sun. These specific plants have the properties of plants that occur in the city of Quarai. This city is located in the south of Brazil on the border with Uruguay.

Something really unique about the Frailea genus is that these cacti can produce seeds without their flowers ever opening. The Frailea Castanea blooms with 4 cm large yellow flowers. Only on very warm summer days do the flowers open in our country.

The Frailea Castanea has a small taproot in which the cactus stores water for the rest period. Then the Frailea Castanea can also partially withdraw into the ground.
