Information

The Frailea phaeodisca is a beautiful dwarf cactus. Often the individual cacti do not grow larger than a few centimeters in diameter. This Frailea occurs in nature in Brazil and Uruguay. Here it often grows on rocky slopes between dry grasslands.

The Frailea phaeodisca has a brown-green color and many small light brown spines. In the head of the cactus there is often wool to be seen from her newest areoles. Between this full grow her flowers in the summer. Sometimes they open on warm summer days. The flowers have a bright yellow color. But it can also be that the flowers do not open and change into a seed berry. This is something unique to Frailea species that they can form seeds without flowering.
