Information

The Mammillaria baumii is a beautiful and compact cactus. In nature this cactus grows in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Here this Mammillaria grows in dry rocky areas. Often in the shade of other low plants.

The Mammillaria baumii has a dark green color and is covered with many fine white colored spines. In the beginning this cactus grows solitary. Later it forms compact clusters with plants. These grow from the side of the cactus.

The flowering period of the Mammillaria baumii is in spring. Between the spines at the top of the cactus grow its beautiful golden yellow flowers. These flowers spread a delicious sweet scent.

When this cactus overwinters completely dry, it can withstand temperatures down to -5 degrees.
