The Mammillaria karwinskiana subs. nejapensis is a beautiful cactus species that occurs naturally in southern Mexico around the city of Oaxaca. Here this cactus grows on mountain slopes and rocky areas.

The Mammillaria karwinskiana subs. nejapensis has a dark green color with many white woolly areoles. Light-colored spines grow between the full growth of hair. The length is very variable, some cacti have spines of 4 cm long and others only 0.5 cm. When this cactus gets older, the growing point will split. This will give you two heads, as visible in the photo.

This Mammillaria is an easy bloomer. She does this from early spring to summer. Its many salmon pink to bright pink flowers appear between the wool at the head of the cactus.
