Information

The Mammillaria voburnensis is a beautiful cactus. In nature, this cactus occurs in a large area in the south of Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Here, this cactus often grows in dry, hilly areas.

The Mammillaria voburnensis has a dark green color. It has small protruding tubercles. On top of these tubercles grow its small sturdy light brown spines. Between the tubercles this cactus forms wool. It does this to reduce evaporation of moisture by the sun. When the Mammillaria voburnensis grows larger, it forms side shoots from the side of the plant.

The flowering period of the Mammillaria voburnensis is spring and summer. Many creamy white flowers grow between the spikes. The petals have a fine red-brown line in the middle.

Although Mammillaria voburnensis likes a warm wintering, it can still tolerate temperatures of -4 degrees for a short period. It must be completely dry during the winter.
