The Stapelia Leendertziae is a nice Stapelia species that you do not often encounter. The Stapelia Leendertziae is related to the Orbea Variegata, the Orbea Divaricata and the Huernia Macrocarpa. This Stapelia is very suitable to grow in a hanging pot. The stems grow longer than with other Stapelia species and quickly tend to hang.

The stems of the Stapelia Leendertziae are light green in color and the edges can get a red glow from the sun. The skin of this Stapelia is covered in small downy hairs. This makes the stems of the Stapelia Leendertziae feel very soft. This cristate form of the Stapelia Leendertziae does not grow in stems, but gets a comb shape. This comb grows wavy and randomly, which gives you beautiful and unique shapes.

In the fall, the Stapelia Leendertziae starts to bloom. Very large star-shaped flowers appear from the side of the stems. The flowers are purple brown in color. After flowering, the Stapelia Leendertziae goes into dormancy. From spring, the plant wakes up again and the Stapelia Leendertziae starts to grow again when the temperature gets warmer and the days get lighter.
