Adenium boehmianum, also known as Bushman poison, is a poisonous caudex plant endemic to the predominantly arid regions of northern Namibia and southern Angola.

Adenium boehmianum is a slow grower that forms a striking silvery branched caudex. This is its truly characteristic feature. The leaves are broader than those of other Adenium species and have a pale grey-green appearance.

Adenium boehmianum has less prolific flowering than, for example, the popular A. obesum hybrids, but the flowers that do appear are truly beautiful. The flowers vary in colour from light pink to dark magenta pink. The flowers resemble those of A. swazicum.

This Adenium is a plant that requires patience from its caretaker, as it takes longer to flower than other Adenium species. This is also why it is rarely encountered.

What is special about this plant is that it requires long dormant periods. During this dormant period in winter, it almost always sheds its leaves. This is completely normal and not a sign that something is wrong. The plant is thus preparing for the dry season. If you see brown leaf tips, it usually means that the plant is too dry between waterings. If the plant feels wet while the tips are brown, you can reduce watering slightly.
