Information

The Cyrtanthus Spiralis is a beautiful caudex plant. In nature, the Cyrtanthus Spiralis occurs in South Africa near Algoa Bay. Here the Cyrtanthus Spiralis grows on sandy plains where moist air precipitates from the bay.

The Cyrtanthus Spiralis consists of two parts. An underground hole in which the plant stores moisture to get through a long dry period. Her green elongated leaves grow above the ground. These grow twisted and curl up at the end of the leaf.

Because the Cyrtanthus Spiralis originally grows in South Africa, its rest period is in the summer. During this period the leaves die and the plant does not need water. At the end of summer, the flower of the Cyrtanthus Spiralis appears first, followed by the new leaves when it has finished blooming. The flower of the Cyrtanthus Spiralis grows on a flower stem and usually has 3 to 4 red bell-shaped flowers that spread a slightly sweet scent. The growth period of the Cyrtanthus Spiralis is in autumn and winter.
