Information

The Dracophilus dealbatus is an attractive succulent that occurs naturally along the coast north and south of the Gariep River mouth in South Africa. Here, this plant grows in sandy plains and stony terrain, often in rocky crevices where it is well protected.

The Dracophilus dealbatus is a compact, small succulent that branches out later in life. Its fleshy leaves grow upright in equal pairs resembling triangles, sometimes tending towards a more cylindrical shape. The leaves have a fine texture with a waxy surface. The color is pale grayish-green, but sometimes pink hues appear at the leaf tip where a very small spiny point may be visible.

The Dracophilus dealbatus blooms in autumn with purple flowers that stand out against the grayish-green foliage.
