Information

The Echinocereus viereckii subs. morricalii is an intense green colored cactus with small spines. In nature, this cactus occurs near the Mexican city of Monterrey. Here it often grows into a large cluster. The Echinocereus viereckii subs. morricalii can reach 50 cm in length and 7 cm in diameter. Due to its growth habit, the Echinocereus viereckii subs. morricalii well suited for placing in a hanging pot.

The flowers of Echinocereus viereckii subs. morricalii are magenta purple in color and grow from the side of the cactus. The flowers appear here in May and bloom for 2 to 3 days. They can grow quite large in relation to the cactus. They can reach a diameter of 10 cm.

When this cactus overwinters in completely dry soil, the Echinocereus viereckii subs. morricalii tolerate temperatures down to -7 °C.
