Information

The Fockea Edulis is a beautiful green caudex plant that occurs naturally in Namibia and South Africa. The Fockea Edulis is related to the Fockea Natalensis. In nature, the Fockea Edulis grows in dry savannah and rocky areas. The caudex of the v is grey-green in colour and gets all small bumps as the Fockea gets older. Eventually, the caudex can grow to a diameter of 60 cm. This takes many years. In nature, the caudex grows largely underground. When the caudex is covered with soil, it grows faster.

The leaves of the Fockea Edulis are green in color. The Fockea Edulis is an evergreen caudex plant. In the rest period from January to April some leaves fall off, but this Fockea rarely becomes leafless.

At the end of the summer, the Fockea Edulis starts to bloom. White-green flowers appear on the stems. The flowers are very small and grow to a maximum of 1.5 cm. The flowers of the Fockea Edulis are pollinated by fruit flies. When the pollination is successful, elongated gray fruits will grow on this Fockea, which contain the seeds.
