The Gymnocalycium monvillei subs. horridispinum is a beautiful and robust cactus species. In nature this cactus occurs in the Cordoba province in Argentina. Here this cactus grows in dry mountainous areas.

The Gymnocalycium monvillei subs. horridispinum has a beautiful dark green color and clearly formed ribs. On top of the ribs are its light-colored areoles. From these grow thick sturdy dark brown spines.

The Gymnocalycium monvillei subs. horridispinum is an easy bloomer. When she is happy with you, she will bloom in spring and summer. From her upper areoles then grow beautiful flowers. The flower color can vary from white-pink, light pink to dark pink.
