Information

The Lepismium cruciforme is a beautiful cactus species that occurs naturally in the south of Brazil. Here the Lepismium cruciforme grows on trees in tropical forest areas. The temperatures here are very high and the air is humid. These are actually slightly different conditions than what you are used to with a cactus. The Lepismium cruciforme therefore prefers a warm place. Also in the winter period and likes it to be sprayed regularly with a plant sprayer.

The Lepismium cruciforme produces long angular stems with 4-5 ribs. The stems can grow up to 50 cm long and 2 cm wide. This makes the Lepismium cruciforme suitable for placing in a hanging pot or high pot. The stems of the Lepismium cruciforme have a beautiful dark green color. The stems take on a beautiful red-purple glow when they are given a nice sunny spot.

If the Lepismium cruciforme is happy with you, it will bloom in the summer. small white-pink flowers emerge from many areoles on the sides of the stems. If you give the Lepismium cruciforme a warm place with a constant temperature in winter, this will promote the number of flowers and the flowering of the Lepismium cruciforme can become a real sea of flowers.

This cactus is very fragile, but because it is popular and has a beautiful appearance, we still want to offer it. We pack these cacti as best as possible. However, it may happen that some stems break off during transport. You can pot these again after +- 2 weeks of drying. These will then continue to grow again from spring onwards.
