The Melocactus maxonii var. inermis is a beautiful Melocactus species. The variant arose from breeding plants with smaller spines.

The Melocactus maxonii var. inermis has a beautiful green-gray color. There are small white-gray areoles on her ribs. Small light brown spines grow from this, but they are sometimes completely spineless. When this Melocactus ages, it forms a cephalium on top of the cactus. This one is white and woolly. Every year the cephalium gets a little bigger.

Once this Melocactus has formed its cephalium, it can also start flowering. Her fine bright pink flowers grow from her cephalium on warm summer days.
