Information

Oreocereus Celsianus occurs naturally in the Andes Mountains in Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. This columnar cactus branches at the base of the main stem and grows thick stems with 10-25 straight ribs and 8-12 cm in diameter. When older, this cactus can reach a height of 3m. White to gray hairs of about 5 cm long grow between the spines of this cactus. These hairs provide the cactus in the wild with protection against light night frost that can sometimes occur in the Andes Mountains.

The beautiful thick yellowish to reddish brown spines, the hairstyle of white hairs and the intense green body of this cactus make it a real eye-catcher.

On warm summer days the Oreocereus Celsianus can bloom. Pink funnel-shaped flowers grow from the top of the cactus' head, which can be 7-9 cm long and 3 cm wide.
