The Pachypodium densiflorum is a special plant. You don't often come across this one. In nature, the Pachypodium densiflorum occurs in Madagascar. Here, the Pachypodium densiflorum grows between rock crevices in granite rocks and plains on the highlands in central Madagascar.

The Pachypodium densiflorum grows slowly and can eventually grow into a plant of 70 cm high and 2 meters wide. When this Pachypodium is still young, it mainly grows in length in the first few years. When they have reached a height of between 5-10 cm, they often start to expand. Then the trunk becomes thicker and the plant grows less in height. The Pachypodium densiflorum likes a lot of warmth and sun. So give it a warm and sunny spot. This also promotes growth in width.

The Pachypodium densiflorum has a grey woody trunk. On the trunk grow its spines. These grow in pairs of two in a V shape. The base of the spine also has the grey colour and the end has a light brown colour. On top of the plant grow the leaves of this Pachypodium. These have a dark green colour with a light white-green stripe in the middle. The leaves can grow 10-15 cm long. When the Pachypodium densiflorum goes into dormancy. In our country this is in the autumn and winter, the leaves can partially or completely fall off. When this plant comes out of its dormancy period in the spring, the leaves will grow back by themselves. The Pachypodium densiflorum likes a warm winter place of at least 12 degrees.

The Pachypodium densiflorum can also flower. It is not an easy flowerer. Often the Pachypodium densiflorum does not flower for many decades. The flowers grow on a long flower stem and have an intense yellow color. The flowers usually have five petals that have a wavy shape.
