The Pilosocereus Gounellei is an imposing column cactus that occurs naturally in Brazil. Here it grows in dry areas. The color of the cactus is green with a light blue glow. The spines are quite imposing and strong and are yellow-brown in color. Small white hairs grow from the areoles of this cactus between the spines. Most hairs can be found at the head of the cactus.

This Pilosocereus Gounellei column cactus has the ability to branch out a lot. This causes it to grow into a tree-like shrub. It is a slow grower. With our climate it will grow between 3 and 10 cm on average per year. This means that it will take several years before you have a large plant. When the plants are older, flowers may arrive on warm summer days. This Pilosocereus Gounellei does not do this often, so if you get it to bloom, this column cactus will be very happy with you. The flowers are white in color and grow on a green stem. The outer leaves of the flowers are folded over. When the flower is fertilized, round green fruits with purple flesh emerge. It is unknown whether the fruits of the Pilosocereus Gounellei are edible.
