Information

The Stenocactus coptonogonus is a beautiful cactus species that occurs in nature in a scattered area in Mexico. Here this cactus grows in mineral-rich and volcanic soil. The Stenocactus coptonogonus is green-gray in color and gets impressive spines. These can become quite large, are brown in color and grow slightly curved upwards. In nature, these spines ensure that no animals stand on the plants.

The Stenocactus coptonogonus blooms in our country in the spring. Then beautiful flowers appear at the head of the plant. These are white in color with a purple stripe in the middle of the petal.

The Stenocactus coptonogonus is an exception in its appearance for the Stenocactus genus. It does not produce multiple wavy thin ribs, but only a few thick ribs.

When this Stenocactus overwinters in a completely dry soil, the Stenocactus coptonogonus can tolerate temperatures down to -10 °C.
