Information

Please note: These are old mother plants. Because of this, signs of age and lignification have become visible over the years. Other than this, they are very strong and well-rooted plants.

The Tephrocactus Geometricus is a beautiful and highly sought-after Tephrocactus species. This is mainly due to its symmetry and beautifully rounded plant parts. In nature, the Tephrocactus Geometricus is found in Argentina and in the border region with Bolivia.

In this area, the Tephrocactus Geometricus grows on mountain slopes at an altitude of 2200 to 2900 meters. The areas where the Tephrocactus Geometricus grows are not easily accessible due to the altitude. It can also freeze significantly at this height. As a result, the Tephrocactus Geometricus is resistant to temperatures of -10 degrees. However, the soil in which the Tephrocactus Geometricus grows must be completely dry.

From the top of an existing sphere of the Tephrocactus Geometricus, new spheres grow in the summer. When they first grow, they are reddish-purple in color. Later, when they are fully grown, they take on their characteristic grey-blue color.

At the end of spring, the flowers of the Tephrocactus Geometricus appear. These are truly beautiful. They can grow up to 8 cm in size and are white to light pink in color.

The Tephrocactus Geometricus does not have many spines. A few dark, downward-growing spines are visible on the cactus. Probably, because the Tephrocactus Geometricus grows high in the mountains, spines were never needed to protect the cactus. For someone who likes a cactus with few spines, the Tephrocactus Geometricus is ideal.

Please note: These are old mother plants. Because of this, signs of age and lignification have become visible over the years. Other than this, they are very strong and well-rooted plants.
